The California Arts Council has awarded the Trinity County Arts Council a New State and Local Partners Grant, $25,405  !!

This grant represents the increase to arts funding from the State of California to the California Arts Council in recognition of the importance of ART to the state's Creative Economy.

We THANK  the California Legislature for the generous grant to the California Arts Council !!

And, we appreciate the vote of confidence from the California Arts Council for our arts programing.

The Trinity County Arts Council, is a rural Jewel in the Trinity Alps.  Our small population can seem insignificant to funders yet the artistic talent in our community equals Sacramento and Los Angeles.  Art is the binder that underlies cultural tourism and most community events.  We are so thankful for the financial support from the California Arts Council in the form of the State Local Partners Program Grant.  This grant funds the tools, networking, and resources that our small organizations require to build our capacity.  Our rural and underserved county depends upon state and federal funding to safeguard the arts in Trinity County.

The Trinity County Arts Council (TCAC) plays an integral role in promoting the sustainability of Trinity County in the following ways:

Economic:  The Trinity County Arts Council is a primary partner in promoting tourism in our county through more than 30 unique  events that couple art with history, outdoor recreation, and extraordinary scenic beauty.  The art fairs and our monthly Art Cruise provide artists and businesses an opportunity for sales while increasing visibility to tourists.  Our monthly Art Cruise enlivens the community and draws tourists from many regions of California and Oregon.

Education:  The Arts Council promotes art education for adults and children by sponsoring marketing and art workshops for artists trying to move from hobbiest to professional.  Our new Art in Schools Docent Program teaches standards based art lessons to students, K-8.

Community:  Strengthening community is a primary objective for the Arts Council.  The Arts Council provides art vendors, labor and advertising in support of many events sponsored by organizations in our community including the “Children’s Festival”, “Joss House Fundraiser”, Indian Day Celebration, Rotary Scholarship Fund, “Salmon Festival”, Autumn in the Alps Quilt Show, Mountain Magic Christmas and many more.

Partnership:  TCAC has partnered with Shasta and Butte County to create a coalition of 5 county Arts Councils, the True North Arts & Culture Alliance,  a vehicle to cross promote artists, events and opportunities in hopes of building our tourism industries.

Public funding for the arts supports broad public access to the arts for the citizens of California. The California Arts Council has consistently recognized the importance of the arts and their role in building community by providing funds that enable California to participate directly in the arts.
