In honor of Women’s History Month, Senator McGuire recognizes extraordinary women throughout Northern California
Jill Richards chosen as McGuire’s Trinity County Woman of the Year
Sacramento, CA – In recognition of Women’s History Month celebrated each March, Senator Mike McGuire has chosen a woman from each of the seven counties in the Second Senate District as Women of the Year. Each of the women who have been selected for this award have extraordinary accomplishments, demonstrated incredible commitment to their communities and have brought positive change Northern California.
Senator McGuire, all throughout the year and especially in the month of March, celebrates the contributions women have made all throughout our state by recognizing Women’s History Month. It is an opportunity to highlight the significant achievements women have fought to accomplish all throughout this great nation and this year’s Northern California recipients exemplify that sentiment with unmatched commitment and dedication.
Jill Richards, Executive Director of the Trinity Arts Council, has been chosen as Woman of the Year for Trinity County. The Award Ceremony will be April 21 as part of the Town Hall Meeting with Senator McGuire.

Senator McGuire is honoring these Women of the Year at two different luncheons, one in the North Bay and one on the North Coast.
“This phenomenal group of women continue to inspire and bring positive change to our local communities and we’re excited to recognize Jill’s track record of success in Trinity County,” Senator McGuire said.
Brief Background on Ms. Richards:
Jill Richards joined the Trinity Arts Council in 2008 and has brought her 28 years of marketing experience to the administration of grants and arts programs as the Executive Director. Jill’s goal as executive director is the same as the Arts Council Mission, to weave art into all aspects of Trinity County life. As the director, she helps to carry out economic development by providing professional and financial assistance for the development of artists, she supports art education for children and adults and she is helping to lead increased participation in events from the art community to help Trinity County expand tourism activities.
