Artists Demonstrating during “Artists in Action”

Wildfires and the tragedy, sadness, and the uncertainty this fire has brought Trinity County has moved us to reschedule the Artists in Action Festival.

We considered cancelling entirely.  However, many people feel that adding the Artists in Action Festival to the scheduled Salmon Festival and Dutch Oven Cook-off, Saturday, October 14, would provide the community relief and solace.  Artists will demonstrate their craft and make their art available from the sidewalks of Main Street, Weaverville from 11 am to 3pm..  A band will set the tempo for the event at Angela’s Bead Art Deck.

We invite you to join us as a demonstrator on the sidewalk of Main Street Weaverville, October 14, a very short walk from the festivities at the Highland Meadow and the Museum.  Please contact,

Jill Richards, Trinity County Arts Council, (530) 623-2760,

Many artists have confirmed the new date, others are reviewing their calendars.

We expect to have Live Music, Kids activities, an art raffle, and more than 40 fascinating artists who will demonstrate their skill and discuss their craft.  Among  them will be award-winning artists including ceramic sculptors John Garrett and Keiki Yamasaki who will be offering a RAKU demonstration in which YOU can glaze and Raku a ceramic piece.  Susan Alexander will demonstrate her whimisical glazing of ceramic creatures, VaLynn Crafford creating animals through the art of needle felting,  Earthdance jewelry,  and Jean Lam and Jason Richards demonstrating silver-smithing.  Beaded jewelry artists Joe Kasper and Kurvanti Devi Dasi will demonstrate spectacular seed-bead art.  We await many confirmations including Lynn Farrar with her spectacular Glass Work and expressive painting, painter Billy Andrews, watercolorist Karen Hammer, pastel painter Debee Holland-Olson, wood carvers from the Hendersons, hand crafted Native American art and many more.

(One Confirmed and fascinating artist, Angel McMorrow of Chi Crafts, will demonstrate her craft)

Moonshine will amp up the tempo,  performing during the day on Angela’s Bead Art deck. (To Be Confirmed!)

Down the street, the Annual Salmon Festival will provide many activities and live bands through the day.  The Dutch Oven Cook-off will take place at the Jake Jackson Museum.  Many Reasons to Visit Weaverville.
